The Town of Hamden is pleased to announce that it will enter into a purchase and sales agreement for the redevelopment of the former Michael J. Whalen Middle School. The Mutual Housing Association of South Central CT (AKA NeighborWorks New Horizons) will create mixed-income rental housing with badly needed community space, a solution for this vacant and blighted property.

A great moment happened the other day when CT Light and Power delivered their tax credit check in the amount of $285,000 to HEDC for the Zero Energy House we are currently designing.
Rochford Field and Villano Park Restoration Project Underway

After a long planning process, Guerrera Construction will complete the soil remediation and restoration project at Rochford Field and Villano Park in Southern Hamden. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be December 3rd, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the construction trailers on Winchester Avenue.
Zero Energy House Funding Approved: HEDC Partners with Connecticut Housing Investment Fund & Connecticut Light & Power Company

The Hamden Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) is pleased to announce that they have secured funds to design and build a Zero Energy House at 499 Newhall Street. This state of the art, energy efficient house will be located across the street from the new Hamden Business Incubator on Newhall Street.
State Funds $350,000 Brownfield Grant For The Hamden Business Incubator

The Hamden Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) received good news regarding funding for the continued environmental work required at the site of the future Hamden Business Incubator. The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development awarded $350,000 to HEDC as part of the round of funding announced by Governor Malloy this week.
Hamden Business Incubator Moves Into Next Phase of Construction

Construction is nearing completion for the current phase of work at the future site of the Hamden Business Incubator. This phase includes the removal of old boilers and asbestos, as well as clearing out contaminated materials in the basement. The $200,000 for this phase came from the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Hamden Economic Development Corporation (HEDC).
