Centerville Lumber Site Redevelopment Moves Forward

After years of planning, construction has begun at the former site of Centerville Lumber. The site at 2320 Whitney Avenue has been cleared of all of the old barns and pavement and the site work continues for the multi- faceted development.

Construction of the Residence Inn by Marriot will begin this spring and be completed in early 2018, while the rehabilitation and conversion of the Centerville Lumber building into Amity Physical Therapy will continue throughout the summer and fall of 2017. A yet to be named restaurant will likely occupy the front building formerly leased by Brandman’s Paint.

Commenting on the project, Mayor Curt Balzano Leng said, “I am especially pleased with the efforts of the Hamden Economic Development and Neighborhood Revitalization Office to ensure that substantial rehabilitation and development projects such as this continue to move forward with positive results for the Town as a whole. In addition to these businesses, Hamden has recently welcomed a number of other new businesses to Town - a strong indicator of the strength of our financial position and Hamden’s business sector as a whole. I look forward to the completion of this project, and many more positive developments in the year ahead.”

This $10 Million development project was brokered by Steven Press from Press Cuozzo Realtors in Hamden and supported by the Town of Hamden. “This project is located on the of the most desirable development sites in all of Hamden. It is close to a highway exit off of the Wilbur Cross Parkway and is close to restaurants and services. We think it‘s a great project and will draw people with disposable income:, stated Dale Kroop, Director of Economic Development and Neighborhood Revitalization.
