Workforce Development Series Continues

 “Everyone Gets a Job in Hamden: Exploring Career and Technical Educational Opportunities”

SESSION 6: Business and Entrepreneurship Careers

Panel Announced

Thursday April 18th

Miller Senior Center (Behind Miller Library): 630-8 PM

This workforce series promotes many career opportunities for Hamden residents, particularly students entering or leaving middle school or entering or currently in high school. All sessions are videotaped. At this session, you will hear presentations on the many opportunities and the earning potential there are for careers in Business or Entrepreneurship.

Bryan Anderson is the Faculty Advisor for the Hamden DECA (Distributive Educational Club of America) Entrepreneurship Program at Hamden High School. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. Hamden’s DECA program has received several state and international awards.

 

Mark Stevens from Waddell and Reed Financial Advisors will discuss Financial Literacy and the preparation of students for business careers, the development of good credit and financial skills for life.

 

Richard Pearce is the Coordinator of the Hamden Business Assistance Center which offers assistance is business planning cash flow analysis and business formation. He will discuss what it takes to start a business

 

Lorraine Adams and Shaun Harris are the owners of Quick Tech Computer Repairs, located at 1418 Dixwell Avenue, near the corner of Concord Street. They will discuss their experience s small business owners of a computer repair, network and web design business.

·        Entrepreneurship/How to Start a Businesses: Thursday 4/18/19. Miller Senior Center
·        Information Technology: Coding, HTML and Artificial Intelligence (Date TBA)
·        Job Readiness: Internships, Appearance, Interview Skills, Financial Literacy, and Student Debt (Date TBA)
