Burt Processing Opens New, Expanded Corporate Headquarters

Hamden Mayor Craig Henrici and members of the Town of Hamden’s Legislative Council and Economic Development Commission attended a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 20, 2009 to celebrate the expansion of the corporate and manufacturing facilities for Burt Processing Equipment. “It is critical that we do everything we can to support our manufacturing cluster” stated Mayor Henrici.

Burt Process Equipment (BPE), Hamden, Connecticut announced the opening of their new corporate headquarters located on Overlook Drive earlier this month.  The new 37,000 sqft state of the art facility was built to accommodate the growing needs of this national leader in corrosion resistant fluid handling equipment. Established in 1970, Burt Process has maintained its manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters in Hamden since 1976, the past thirty-two years being located at 1050 Sherman Avenue.  Operating sales offices in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, they have also recently expanded their sales within the Continental United States to include a branch in California.

Ed Simpson, Director of Manufacturing Sales, describes Burt Process’ growth: “We had previously operated our manufacturing division of the corporation between two locations.  Expanding and combining into our new facility gives us enhanced processing and material handling capabilities to keep our competitive edge in today’s economy.”

Burt Process Equipment is an industry leader in of high purity and corrosion resistant fluid handling equipment, systems and services. Burt combines distribution, engineering, and manufacturing for pH neutralization, high purity water, chemical feed, and rainwater harvesting systems. BPE provides proven solutions for a wide array of industries and institutions including universities, biotechnology firms, pharmaceutical companies, microelectronics, metal finishing, and semiconductor manufacturers.

To support the project, the Town of Hamden awarded Burt grants, tax abatements, and a building permit waiver through its Business Assistance Program. Stephen J. Burt, the owner of Burt Process Equipment was very grateful to the town “On behalf of all of us at Burt Process Equipment, I want to thank the Town of Hamden for all the economic incentives made available to us. Without the Tax Abatements, Property Improvement Grants and the Permit Fee reduction the expansion might not have been possible. The Economic Development Office and the other departments with which we were involved with, including Planning and Zoning and Building were both professional and cooperative. The leaders of the town should be commended for continuing to make Hamden a great place to run a business.”
